This week, Pentagon officials revealed that during the extended air campaign carried out by the American Special Operations forces in Syria has led to the death of Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, an ISIS commander. This air campaign has reportedly had a huge effect on the ISIS group, even in the face of the group’s European attacks.
The American Special Forces originally hoped to capture Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli alive, but for reasons not yet divulged the two helicopters who were in pursuit of the ISIS commander opened fire on his vehicle.
Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli was pegged as the ISIS group’s financier by U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton P. Carter, who announced the news. The Defense Secretary also stated that ISIS is steadily losing it’s leaders, funding and soldiers, all a result of the military offenses against ISIS gaining momentum.
You can be sure to see more headlines like this in the coming months, as the world tightens it’s focus and makes attempts to squash ISIS for good, before more attacks can occur.
